Mary Beth Johnson - The Twisted Redhead

A group of strangers came together to share their common interest (to sale their creations). Through posts and blog we have learned so much about each other that we became friends. I am happy to say Mary Beth was one of those friends. She kept life interesting with her blogs and comments. Her wit and charm always brought a smile to my face and some times a laugh out loud moment.

My heart was broken after hearing of Mary Beth's passing. I have gone back and re-read some of her blogs to remeber her the way I think she would have wanted. Though the tears still flow the smiles are easy and the laughter is returning.

If you didn't know Mary Beth you missed a knowing a wonderful person but you can get a feel of her witty personality from her blogs. Here are some of my favorites.

  2. I am so sad to hear this news! Her blogs were witty and fun to read. Although I never met her in person, she had a wonderful way of drawing our diverse little group on online sellers together for a laugh and a smile as we interacted with her via social media and her blog. Rest in Peace, Mary Beth.

  3. Thank you Cathy for this. It's remarkable what the world of online selling of handmade crafts has done in connecting us all. Mary Beth was a beacon of light and laughter amongst us all. She will be sorely missed. You hit the nail on the head with the quote you used about her "snark and sass" - perfect! RIP Mary Beth xx

    1. Yes, it is. I was just thinking about our group and how long we have known each other. Though most of us have never met there is definitely a friendship, and the loss of one of our friends leaves a empty space in the heart.

  8. This is so sweet Cathy and so true too! There was a time I would not have thought that you could have a friend that you never met. I used to poo poo internet dating......until my friends began to date and marry from their internet matches. They actually found good matches! Now, I can say that I have internet friends and especially this group of very creative, kind and hard working women. Our businesses have grown with our friendships. No one was coerced or pressured. All chose.

Mary Beth was one of those "friends" that always made me smile and I enjoyed our communications. I think I got a sense of who she was and I liked her. I also know that I will miss her funny ways. Us humans are an amazing bunch.

    1. I think the friendships just sort of snuck up on us. I realized one day while reading posts that I knew so much about these "complete strangers" and I worried when there was an illness or even when pets were sick and thought "these people are not stranger they are my friends". It is truly hard to believe that without meeting any of the group in person you can become so close and care about them so much that when you hear about an injury, illness or death you are affected just as if they were members of your family.

  11. Yes, Mary I also liked the tribute to her dad. I think I had just been put on the waiting list at the time of that one so I missed it originally.

  12. LOVED reading everyone's sweet comments and memories. Thanks so much for this fitting tribute, Cathy. You are all so right with your many observations of her art and her big personality that filled a room. She sure was cheeky and hilarious. Lots of sadness during this time, but lots of joy at how she impacted people with her goodness. - Nancy (sister)
